Articulated Platform Shiplift
We do not recommend articulated platform shiplifts on newbuilds
The articulated platfom is the original design from 1958. and while these shiplifts work fine, engineering has evolved and there are better Syncrolifts - like the rigid platform shiplift - available.
The articulated platform main characteristic is that it has hinged connections between the main and the longitudinal beams.
Syncrolift services these shiplifts, and they work fine when properly maintained and with good load distribution; but if you are building a new shiplift we recommend a rigid platform. The rigid platform is safer in use and the consequenses of a wire failure are reduced.
